Capro platform

 

The Capro platform represents all copolymers of lactide (in the L, D or DL form) and/or glycolide with ε-caprolactone. An increasing amount of commercial products is developed based on this technology platform, mainly for medical devices.

 

L-lactide, D-lactide and glycolide based polymers are semi-crystalline polymers with high mechanical strength and stiffness. Introducing ε-caprolactone in these polymer compositions results in polymers that combine a desired mechanical and degradation behavior with improved flexibility of the polymer. This leads to an increased freedom in the design of resorbable products and their property profiles.
