Polylactide platform

The Polylactide platform represents the core of our capabilities. It includes the monomers L-lactide, D-lactide and DL-lactide and homopolymers and copolymers based on these monomers. A broad property spectrum can be obtained by varying the ratios of these monomers, end group chemistries and polymerization conditions.

Polylactides have been used for many years. Through our expertise and innovative drive, we continue to improve these materials, constantly striving for optimal processing behavior, improved polymer properties and new application areas. Furthermore, we develop new products with unique property profiles specifically designed for application in new surgical areas.

PURAC biomaterials is unique in being the only large-scale, commercial supplier of D-lactide. In combination with other lactide monomers, this monomer can potentially add unique benefits to resorbable products, such as improved mechanical and degradation properties.
